Your family always has something going on, and a busy lifestyle in the Windy City suburbs demands the right three-row SUV. But should you find a new Kia Telluride for sale near Rolling Meadows, or a Hyundai Palisade? These sibling SUVs share a basic foundation but are aimed at unique needs based on how you and your loved ones spend your time.
Kia has already gotten a jump-start on the 2027 model year, rolling out a next-generation Telluride to match the 2026 overhaul the Palisade received. Both offer a powerful, efficient turbo-hybrid powertrain, ample passenger space, cutting-edge driver-assistance technology, and available AWD, which is a must around Rolling Meadows.
Yet when you dig beneath the surface, a winner emerges in this large SUV debate. Although the 2026 Palisade is a fine daily driver, our comparison reveals that the 2027 Kia Telluride is the right vehicle for those who want to go beyond downtown Rolling Meadows and explore more of Illinois’ wonders.
The Telluride Offers More Capability
Pretty much every three-row SUV will do well dropping the kids off at Kimball Hill School, commuting to work, or taking a cruise on Interstate 90. When life ventures beyond the ordinary, though, the 2027 Kia Telluride will be there with the capability and excitement you need.
For starters, while the optional hybrid powertrain is identical across both SUVs, the base engine is drastically different. The 2026 Palisade comes standard with a 3.5L V6, producing 287 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It’s a solid performer, yet unspectacular beyond everyday commuting.
Kia equips the 2027 Telluride with the same base engine as the hybrid, with the electric motor as the difference between the standard and HEV models. This 2.5L turbocharged engine is a bit less powerful at 274 hp, but more than makes up for it with 311 lb-ft of torque. This added pull lets you get up to speed quickly on highway ramps or the occasional hill, even with a full vehicle. Plus, you’ll never find yourself lagging in traffic.

Towing With the Telluride
Each SUV can tow up to 5,000 lbs with the base engine, but Kia gets more from its shared hybrid powertrain. The 2027 Telluride Hybrid has standard Tow Mode, stability assist, and other features that give it a 4,500-pound towing capacity. The 2026 Palisade Hybrid has a 4,000-pound capacity—and its EPA-estimated fuel mileage is 34 MPG combined, one less than the Telluride.
Then there’s the cargo area, which is essential when you always need to tote luggage, sports gear, furniture, and other large items. The 2027 Kia Telluride has 22.3 cu.ft. behind the third seating row and 89.3 cu.ft. behind the first row. Palisade owners only have 19.1 and 86.7 cu.ft., respectively. When it’s time to get away from it all, the Telluride holds what you need.
The Telluride Has More Adventure Options
Speaking of getting away, the 2027 Kia Telluride is an SUV geared toward memorable exploits. Compared to the 2026 Hyundai Palisade, it has more ways available to get your adrenaline pumping on the roads and trails beyond Rolling Meadows. These same features also make the Telluride a better vehicle for harsh winter conditions such as snow, ice chunks, and mud.
The standard design alone tells you the 2027 Telluride is serious about weekend play. All models have downhill brake control, whereas the Palisade only includes this with AWD. Most Telluride grades have larger wheels to boost stability, and the departure angle is slightly higher to avoid clipping obstacles. Fog lights are also included on high-level Telluride trims, which Hyundai doesn’t offer.
Then there are the trim levels and packages. Hyundai introduced the Palisade XRT Pro as part of the 2026 redesign, and it’s a solid choice for light off-roading with its all-terrain tires, electronic limited-slip rear differential, one-inch suspension lift, recovery hooks, and additional drive modes. However, it’s the only way that Rolling Meadows drivers can configure the Palisade for their favorite state park—and it’s only available with the V6 engine.
The 2027 Telluride, though, has many ways to venture off the main roads. The X-Line EX, X-Line SX, and X-Line SX Prestige add outdoorsy and athletic styling plus basic adventure tools such as standard AWD, multi-terrain drive modes, a self-leveling rear suspension, and a liftgate light for nighttime cargo loading. They’re available with the hybrid powertrain, too!
For more serious off-roading, there’s the Telluride X-Pro SX, which has everything the Palisade XRT Pro offers plus a higher 1.7-inch lift, a standard tow hitch, a ground-view trail camera system, a special off-road display, scuff plates, and ground-level auxiliary lighting. The X-Pro SX even has a few more amenities than the XRT Pro, like a 10-way power driver’s seat with thigh support and sport-style pedals.
The Telluride Offers More Connectivity
Good infotainment technology will elevate any outing, whether it’s to the store or Busse Woods. On the surface, the infotainment systems in the 2027 Telluride and 2026 Palisade are similar. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with an available matching instrument display, onboard navigation, wireless screen mirroring, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and other shared standard features means a strong connected experience.
However, there are a few key technological advantages the Telluride has for Rolling Meadows drivers. First, every 2027 Telluride has two Qi-compatible wireless chargers and seven USB-C ports. The Palisade only has one wireless charger and six ports, with one fewer in the front row. That means more people can top off their phones with or without a cable.
Second, when you’re stuck in Rolling Meadows traffic or waiting on your carpool buddies, the 2027 Telluride lets you enjoy video streaming services on the main display. Link your YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, or certain live TV subscriptions. Then watch movies and shows whenever the Telluride is in Park, or download games and create your own action.
Infotainment System & Displays
Even when you’re on the run, you can enjoy more from the Telluride’s infotainment system. Kia has signed licensing deals to create display themes featuring legendary Disney characters and stories, along with the logos of every NBA team. Celebrate your love of Marvel and Mickey Mouse or cheer on the Bulls from anywhere!
In addition, there’s a special five-inch climate display integrated into the larger screen that shows everything from fan speed to vent position. Finally, the 115V power inverter for household electronics is available on more Telluride trim levels.
