Interested in a Kia Sportage for sale in Schaumburg? We’d love to help you get to know this stylish and affordable compact SUV. We know that drivers in the Chicago suburbs appreciate a tech-forward and sophisticated small SUV.
If you frequently drive into the Windy City for work or fun, you probably need a flexible and fuel-efficient compact SUV. You need a vehicle that can squeeze into the tight parking spots downtown and will get you solid fuel economy cruising up and down Interstate 290.
Many drivers compare the Kia Sportage and the Hyundai Tucson. The two Korean brands are closely related; however, these two models have a few important differences. We think you’ll find that the Kia Sportage is the right choice if you want your dollars to go further.
The Sportage Offers Better Fuel Economy Figures
If fuel economy is a priority for you, we think you’ll like what the Sportage has to offer. Let’s first look at the fuel economy and range of these two models. Since they are both popular among commuters hoping to spend less time and money at the pump, fuel economy figures are often a top priority for shoppers.
For the 2026 model year, both models offer a traditional four-cylinder gasoline engine, a hybrid powertrain, and a plug-in hybrid option. However, the Sportage sees superior fuel economy figures across its powertrain lineup.
If you choose the 2026 Sportage plug-in hybrid, you will see an estimated fuel efficiency of 83 MPGe with an all-electric range of 33 miles. The 2026 Hyundai Tucson plug-in hybrid sees a fuel economy of 77 MPGe and has an electric range of 32 miles.
Now, looking at the regular hybrid options, the 2026 Sportage hybrid enjoys an estimated 42 MPG combined, while the 2026 Tucson hybrid sees 38 MPG combined. Going down to the base I-4 gas engines, you will enjoy an estimated 28 MPG combined in the 2026 Sportage and the 2026 Tucson.
The only powertrain with identical fuel economy figures for these two models is the base four-cylinder gasoline engine. If you are considering a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, you can enjoy substantially better fuel economy and range in the Sportage compared to the Tucson.

The Sportage Can Tow Larger Trailers
Now let’s look at towing figures. You might think that better fuel economy translates to worse towing abilities. However, surprisingly, the 2026 Sportage can tow up to 3,500 lbs when equipped with its base 2.5L four-cylinder engine. The 2026 Hyundai Tucson can only tow up to 2,750 lbs with its base gas engine. So you will enjoy 750 lbs of additional towing power with the Sportage.
If you plan on taking frequent road trips out of Schaumburg and want to take a camper or small boat with you, the possibilities will be greater with the Sportage. That’s why we love recommending it to adventurous individuals who tell us they need a compact and fuel-efficient model for daily life, but who are also looking for something that can tow their toys on the weekends.
The Sportage Has More Widely Available Premium Features
Now let’s look at some premium features that make your drives more comfortable and convenient. While these two models share many of the same features, you will find that select high-end features are available on more trims for the Sportage than the Tucson.
Panoramic Sunroof
Let’s look, for example, at the panoramic sunroof. If you like making the most of beautiful weather, you’ll enjoy this feature that lets natural light and fresh air into your cabin. On the 2026 Kia Sportage, you can access this feature as early as the EX trim, which is the next trim up from the base LX.
If you choose the 2026 Hyundai Tucson, you can only access this feature in the top-end Limited trim. You can find a power tilt and slide sunroof on the lower, SEL Premium trim. However, it has a smaller glass panel that does not cover the entire cabin, unlike the panoramic roof.
Premium Sound System
If you count on your music, podcasts, or audiobooks to get you through your drives, a premium sound system might matter to you. Both models have one, but again, the top-end sound system is more readily available in the 2026 Sportage than the 2026 Tucson.
Starting with the mid-range Sportage X-Line, you can access a Harmon Kardon premium surround sound speaker system. In the Hyundai Tucson, you will have to spring for the top trim, the Limited, to access its premium sound system, which will be a Bose sound system. Both premium systems come with eight speakers.
Some drivers who live for a quality sound system don’t like being forced into the top trim of the Tucson to access a premium listening experience. Only with the Sportage do you have the option to consider multiple trims, without losing access to a premium sound system.
Blind Spot View Monitor
If you want help monitoring the road during your drives around Schaumburg, the 2026 Kia Sportage and 2026 Hyundai Tucson both offer a blind spot view monitor. However, once again, the Tucson only offers this in its top-end Limited trim. Kia makes it available starting with the mid-range Sportage X-Line trim.
The blind spot view monitor displays a live camera feed of the sides of your vehicle. This allows you to know if any cars are approaching these hard-to-see places before you make a lane change. Many drivers feel more confident with this feature in place. But if you want access to it, you’ll probably prefer the Kia Sportage to the Hyundai Tucson.
Driver Memory Settings
Want a seat that can recall your preferred settings? Both models offer it, but (you guessed it), memory settings are only available in the top-end Limited trim for the 2026 Tucson. The 2026 Sportage offers memory settings for the front seat, starting with the mid-range X-Line trim.

See How the Sportage Can Improve Your Drives
We’re excited to take you for a spin in the Sportage! Dollar for dollar and inch for inch, it offers more value than the Tucson. Plus, it has a slightly lower starting price tag, so you really are getting more for less.
The Sportage’s plug-in hybrid and hybrid powertrains achieve better fuel economy than the Tucson’s options, making it a clear choice for commuters who are watching their gas budgets. The Sportage can also tow more than the Tucson, so this small SUV might really surprise you when it’s time to take a camper or boat out of town.
The wide availability of the Sportage’s more premium features cannot be overstated, either. The panoramic sunroof, blind spot view monitor, memory seats, and premium sound system are all available only on the Tucson’s top trim, while the Sportage makes them available much earlier in the lineup.
If you want your dollars to go further, we suggest the stylish and affordable Sportage! We have many models rolling in daily. Our Kia experts would love to take you for a test drive, answer your questions, and help you decide which Sportage model makes the most sense for your life in Schaumburg.
